My father-in-law is diabetic (slightly) so he tries not to eat anything that diabetics cant eat. For 4th of July I was going to make an angel food cake with low fat/sugar free whipped cream on the top with fruit layers on top of that.
My dilemma – i looked up the recipe for angel food cake and there is sugar in it – i was going to just buy an angel food cake at the store, but now that i see it has sugar would it be ok for my father-in-law to eat?
Any suggestions for a dessert for diabetics would be appreciated (easy recipes and easy to travel with).

My dad was diagnosed with diabetis just months ago. And this Christmas I am giving him the best present in his life. I want to collect recipes for diabetics, that are delicious and inovative. I am a great cook, but to tell you the truth, have not thought about food low in sugar, fat etc. Does anyone know, what would be the best recipe book out there or web site where I could get resources for great diabetics food? I want to start trying out the new way of preparing food as we speak, so if you have a good portion of knowledge or you are diabetic yourself, please help me out. Our whole family will thank you saving my dad.

Are there any good receipes for that I can cook for my husband, that still have flavor. He often complains that I am overeacting when he goes and eats fast foods and then he complains about being hungry after a couple of hours. My thing is that I want to cook food for him that is tasty but it doesn’t say that its diabetic. Also, I was wondering is there anything that I can substitute for his need of ice cream. He usually eats that before he goes to bed at night. Right now I have him eating Smart One desserts, is that okay as well? ANY ADVICE WILL HELP.

I don’t know if this is possible, but I am hoping it is. This Christmas I wanted to make a dessert for my boyfriend’s family, preferably something that can be served or eaten individually such as cookies, fudge, etc. My boyfriend’s step-father is diabetic and I wanted to make sure that he would be able to partake in the gift as well. I was wondering if you have any good dessert recipes that are diabetic friendly (no sugar), but that taste good as well and if you wouldn’t mind sharing them. Whatever I end up making will be the best answer! Thank you so much!!!

Several guests at my upcoming wedding, including my mother and aunt, are diabetic. We’re serving cheesecake for dessert. Can anyone suggest any good desserts for diabetics? I want them to know I was thinking of them, too.
BTW, we’re serving fruit between the wedding ceremony & reception.
