My boyfriend of the past 8 months is diabetic and has been for 20 years. I am not in charge of the food we eat as I do all the cooking. I try to cook as healthy as possible … but need some tips on what is good and or bad for him. I do as much low fat good as possible … I try to find sugar free recipes for cakes and cookies – but has a real hard time finding them or the ingredients … where do you shop to get these things.
He wont eat it if it is boring and I dont think it should be … there has to be some hidden secret that I dont know about … on where to find good sugar free ingredients ?
What types of diet plans do you or someone you love follow.
I just want to make sure I am helping him with his condition …
There has to be more I can do with what I feed us ?
Please any help or suggestions is REALLY needed. Thank You.

every morning, I always wake up late like 11AM… and my mother is a diabetic..she complains that she is experiencing hypo and so I cook egg and rice or I will just reheat the food from last night’s dinner..
but sometimes, she chooses to eat bread with coke! She said that coke has a lot of sugar and so it will be absorbed by the body faster to lower down her hypo…
I think she is tired eating fish and chicken but my father and I just bought lots of chicken! lol.. like drumsticks, thigh, and wings..
do you know any delicious food recommended for diabetic? or chicken recipes except fried chicken? lol..

I am a diabetic and have found that I am very highly allergic to artificial sweetners. Does anyone have a sugar free or diabetic recipe for corn muffins using Stevia?

I want to improve my diet & would like to see what is working for you. Please let me know besides diet, details if you exericise & take supplements what they are.
here is mine 7am: take metformin & glimerperide eat 2 Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit
9am half banana or half apple with peanut butter for protein
noon- chicken salad sandwhich with chopped pecans & grapes on whole grain bread
3:00 the other half of my fruit & peanut butter
before 6-fish, salad
if I am hungry & to keep by blood sugar steady through the night I might put a low carb yogurt in freezer & have it for dessert but the calcium is really good for relaxing the body so I sleep well when I do this
Oh, at dinner I take a cholestral pill & another metformin
I know I should exericise but I haven’t started.

high cholesterol and people who are trying to lose weight?
You see, my dad has diabetes and both my dad and my mom have high cholesterol and I’m trying to eat healthier for their benefit and mine.
I’m just wondering what kind of food to cook for the three of us?
Dad: High cholesterol, diabetes
Mom: High cholesterol
Me: Trying to watch what I eat and lose some weight.
So what kind of recipes should I look for?
Oh, I’m 15.

I want to cook a meal for my uncle . He loves mexican food but he can’t eat it. He’s diabetic. He can’t eat a lot of his favorite foods . He gets really sad about that so I want to make him good food & also desert . I’m 17 years old so I don’t have good cooking skills . If you can give me a simple recipe that would help a lot. Oh and ideas for maybe a homemade drink. I really want it to be good. Something that has that home feel to it. Like warming . Also he like cake. I tried googling it but no luck. Well thank you .

Is it normal for an 8 year old to eat nothing unless it contains loads of sugar? He eats chicken but only if it is smothered in ketchup or some sweet barbecue sauce, cheerios but not unless it is doused in sugar, he refuses all vegetables, he won’t even eat a piece of fruit unless its part of some sweet dessert. This isn’t a phase…he has always been like this but the doctor just says as long as he is growing he is healthy and apparently ’cause ketchup contains lycopene it is good for him. I don’t get it, my daughter eats everything!!!! I’ve even tried removing all sweets from the house and the kid will literally starve himself for days on end. He is only in the 25th percentile as it is…please help!

I’m new at this diabetes thing. I was recently diagnosed last month and has since lost 30lbs. YES 30lbs as of today due to diet and exercise. I an now officially NOT over weight. However, I understand I still have to watch my carbs. and eat a diabetic diet. My A1C last month was 6.6. I’ll be taking a vacation in a week and would like to know the amount of carbs I can have without getting myself sick. I plan on working out at the hotel’s gym nightly as well. No I am not checking my sugar daily but plan to by a $25 machine before I go and learn to work it. No I don’t plan on overeating, but I do want to relax and enjoy 4 days of foods and desserts that I normally avoid and WILL continue to avoid after my vacation. I Just want to take about 4 days off of this strict diabetes lifestyle and just enjoy myself. What are your thoughts?
