What is your favorite Holiday Dessert?

Sunday, May 16th, 2010

I just spent all day doing Holiday baking. (I have a diabetic in the house and to avoid temptations, I wait till the last minute. Company will be over tomorrow and not much will be left to tempt this way) I love baking. I am the official baker of my family and am always expected to do our family favorites for the Holidays. I made our favorite sour cream sugar cookies today. Just like my grandma used to make. I was just wandering what is your family’s favorite for the Holidays? Happy Holidays to everyone.

I really want dessert! Gestational diabetes..what can I have instead? ?

Friday, May 14th, 2010

I am craving ice cream or a bowl of cocoa crispies but my doc is checking me on mon for gestational diabetes because of glucose in my urine. I am trying to follow a diabetic diet until I get the results but it is so hard! I cannot have deli meat or artificial sweetener so that really limits me, plus I do not like a lot of dairy. I have been eating only lean meat, green low starch veggies and very small portions of grains and almonds and some fruit but I am starving! Plus I really crave sweets. Any suggestions?
FYI- I am not usually overweight but as of now I am 36weeks prego and am always hungry now that I am not eating as many carbs, what do diabetics eat that I can actually have without posing risk to my baby?

What’s a good easy quick cheap crowd-pleasing dessert?

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I’m a poor student, and it’s dessert day at work tomorrow so I am going to bring something. You must know that I love cooking and I hate using things like cake mix, I prefer baking from scratch, so please no cake mix or bisquick and the like.

Secondly I don’t want to spend a lot of time on it today.

Thirdly everyone’s gotta love it and it’s gotta be easy for me that I won’t screw it up. Also, one of my bosses is diabetic and the other has coeliac disease, so if POSSIBLE, it should be made without sugar or gluten. But this isn’t a requirement.

Anyone know a good dessert everyone will love?
I mean today, not tomorrow… work starts in 5 hours.
Sheesh I said from scratch… buying brownies and pudding mix from the grocery store, does that sound like scratch? I don’t consider that real cooking at all… and tons and tons of preservatives, gross.
Cool whip is absolutely horribly disgusting…

Christmas dessert ?

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

I want to make dessert for Christmas. What should I make? I might make some cookies, but what else? I’m staying home for Christmas with my parents and my uncle and aunt is coming over. I don’t know if other relatves may come over. The least is that there’s 5 of us. My mom is diabetic, so nothing extremely sweet. Last year, I made brownies and I was the one that mostly ate it. What’s a good Christmas dessert?

Dessert Recipes for Diabetics?

Sunday, April 18th, 2010

I don’t know if this is possible, but I am hoping it is. This Christmas I wanted to make a dessert for my boyfriend’s family, preferably something that can be served or eaten individually such as cookies, fudge, etc. My boyfriend’s step-father is diabetic and I wanted to make sure that he would be able to partake in the gift as well. I was wondering if you have any good dessert recipes that are diabetic friendly (no sugar), but that taste good as well and if you wouldn’t mind sharing them. Whatever I end up making will be the best answer! Thank you so much!!!
