My dad was diagnosed with diabetis just months ago. And this Christmas I am giving him the best present in his life. I want to collect recipes for diabetics, that are delicious and inovative. I am a great cook, but to tell you the truth, have not thought about food low in sugar, fat etc. Does anyone know, what would be the best recipe book out there or web site where I could get resources for great diabetics food? I want to start trying out the new way of preparing food as we speak, so if you have a good portion of knowledge or you are diabetic yourself, please help me out. Our whole family will thank you saving my dad.

I’ve got cooking in DT tomorrow and my task is to make two dishes that are the same but one has to be suitable for diabetics. So I thought that I could do a proper apple crumble and then one with half sugar and half Splenda. This is the link to the recipe I was going to use > http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/applecrumble_2971.shtml
Alternatively, can anyone think of any other dishes that I could do a diabetic version of?
Thanks in advance

Most recipes for baked goods reccomend substituting something like Splenda for half the sugar in a recipe. Is there any way to have it substitute all the sugar?
I’m not diabetic or anything and I rarely indulge myself like this, but I just like to cut down when I can.

I think that says most of it..
I’m dating a type 1 diabetic and when i cook i try to make things that are healthier for him even though he tells me not to worry about it too much.
Only problem is that i’m hypoglycemic so what’s healthy of him is not always necessarily healthy for me.
Any ideas or recipes?

Just looking for some inspiration for some Thanksgiving meals. It’s my first year handling cooking and the family get together, and I’m still learning how to cook (I’m not bad, but not great.). I also have two family members who are diabetic, so any Thanksgiving diabetic recipes would be great as well.

I offered to cook dinner for her mom and her husband tonight, but her mom is diabetic. Any good old time recipe I can do for them?
